OLATHE, Kan. -- Valor Men's Basketball returned to action less than 24 hours after dropping a tough matchup to the Dordt Defenders in Olathe, looking to bounce back against the Central Baptist Mustangs. Evangel would play well on both sides of the ball, ultimately playing tough for 40 minutes and taking a 108-90 win over the Mustangs of CBC.
Evangel used baskets from all five starters in the first five minutes of play to take a 20-8 lead over Central Baptist, as six points came from leading scorer Garrett Davault. Over the next 10 minutes, the Mustangs would fight back and draw within two points of Evangel's lead, 27-25. Drew McMillin, Harrison Doennig, and Davault worked to re-give Evangel a double digit lead, 44-30, before Jacob Lafferty ended the half with a basket to give EU a 51-35 lead at the halftime break.
Davault, McMillin, and Bryce Ware opened the second half with several baskets to help push EU to a 26-point lead, 72-46, their largest of the evening. The Valor were able to keep Central Baptist at arm's length, using several late baskets from Luke Foster and a three point barrage from Tommy Pinegar to escape from Olathe with their second win of the season, 108-90.
