SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – Valor Men's Soccer hosted the Moundbuilders of Southwestern College on Wednesday (Oct. 15) night, looking to earn more points towards their season total. Evangel could not break through on the scoreboard on Wednesday, falling to a strong Southwestern squad, 2-0.

Evangel put forth the first shots of the evening in the opening half, as Vasco Goncalves and Philip Mason recorded shots on goal that the Moundbuilders keeper saved. Southwestern was able to put attempts on goal, but it wasn't until the 37:20 mark that the Moundbuilders would score, taking a 1-0 lead over EU. The Valor were unable to record any additional offense in the first half after the goal, trailing 1-0 at the halftime break.

Southwestern added to their lead in the opening moments of the second half, extending their lead to 2-0. Caleb Kuchta and Hayes Van Breusegen were both able to put shots on goal in the second half, but could not convert, as the Valor were unable to break through offensively, falling 2-0 in fulltime.

HIGHLIGHTS

• Davide Marzoli recorded four saves in goal on Wednesday.

• Alim Bangura and Andrea Fincato led Evangel with two shots in the loss.
