SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – Valor Baseball played host to the Ottawa Braves on Friday (Mar. 22) afternoon, competing in a nine inning matchup to open a three-game series with the visiting Braves.
Ottawa would consistently score on Friday, while Evangel would push the Braves in the late innings, but would be unable to fuel the come from behind victory, falling 6-5, in nine innings of play.

Evangel went .257 (9/35) from the plate on Tuesday, as Levi Loughridge went 2-4 from the plate, driving in four RBIs.

Eli Cook also went 2-4 from the plate in the loss.
HOW IT HAPPENED

Ottawa would take a 4-0 lead into the bottom of the sixth inning, as Evangel could not string enough offense together to put a run on the board.

In the bottom of the sixth, Evangel pushed runs on the board. Riley Mitchell would work a walk, followed by a fielders choice that got Taylor McLeod on base. Enter Levi Loughridge to the plate and a three run bomb would make it a 4-3 game, in favor of Ottawa.

Ottawa would respond by scoring two runs of their own, making it a 6-3 ballgame.

In the bottom of the eighth, the Valor would begin to attempt a comeback. Riley Mitchell would single to open the inning, while Taylor McLeod would double. Levi Loughridge would hit a single to score Mitchell while Brooks Espy would single to score McLeod. Unfortunately, EU was unable to generate any additional offense in the inning, ultimately falling, 6-5.
