Record: Evangel (11-14), C of O (11-11)

Location: Point Lookout, Mo. (Bob Smith Field)

POINT LOOKOUT, Mo. – Valor Baseball hit the road on Wednesday (Mar. 13) afternoon, heading just south of Springfield to take on longtime rival College of the Ozarks in a single nine inning match.

The Valor struggled from the mound on Wednesday, allowing 17 runs to score in seven innings of play, as EU could not keep the same offensive pace as the Bobcats, ultimately falling, 17-4.

NOTABLE

  • Evangel went .259 (7/27) from the plate on Wednesday, as Taylor McLeod led the Valor from the plate, going 2/3.

  • Carson Sturdefant drove in a pair of runs on Wednesday, leading the team with two RBIs.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • The Valor opened the game with an Isaac Miller double that hit off the left center field wall and it appeared Evangel would be in for a big day offensively. After a pair of batters went down, Levi Loughridge would drive in Miller with a single to center field, giving the Valor an early 1-0 lead.

  • CofO responded by scoring five runs in the bottom of the first inning to take a 5-1 lead.

  • Evangel would again add a run to their total on a CofO throwing error, as Levi Loughridge worked a walk, advanced to second on a Taylor McLeod single, and score on the error to make it a 5-2 game.

  • The Bobcats would once again score runs, adding eight unanswered to take a 13-2 lead over EU.

  • In the top of the sixth, Taylor McLeod would single, followed by an Eli Cook double to put both runners in scoring position. A Carson Sturdefant single scored both McLeod and Cook, making it a 13-4 game.

  • CofO scored four runs in the bottom of the sixth inning, taking a 17-4 lead, as the Valor would unable to produce any run scoring offense in the top of the seventh, falling 17-4 to the Bobcats.
