SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – Valor Baseball played host to the UHSP Eutectics on Tuesday (Feb. 27) afternoon for a pair of seven inning matchups.
On what would prove to be a windy day, with wind gusts up to 40 miles per hour, offense was in no short supply, as the Valor took a 14-10 win in game one and an 18-6 win in game two to move back to .500 on the season.

Evangel hit a combined .433 on Tuesday afternoon, recording 13 hits in both games.

Levi Loughridge was 4-5 from the plate on Tuesday, with four runs, three RBIs, and three walks.

HOW IT HAPPENED

UHSP opened Tuesday by scoring a pair of runs to take an early 2-0 lead over Evangel.

Isaac Miller opened the bottom of the first inning by hitting a solo home run to straight away center field, making it just a 2-1 Valor deficit. After Riley Mitchell worked a walk, he stole second and advanced to third on a wild throw. A Taylor McCloud sacrifice fly scored Mitchell, making it a 2-2 ball game. After Levi Loughridge hit a ground rule double over the left field wall, Eli Cook smashed a ball to center field, hitting a two-run home run to make it a 4-2 game, in favor of EU.

UHSP would score six runs in the top of the third inning to make it a 8-4 game, back in favor of the Eutectics.

Evangel would respond by scoring in every remaining inning. A Levi Loughridge double and Jeremy Vickers single would put runners in scoring position for Eli Cook, who singled to left field, scoring both runners. Cook would make his way to third on a balk and a wild pitch and ultimately score on a Matthew Olson single up the middle, making it a 8-7 Valor deficit.

Riley Mitchell would walk and steal second and third base, ultimately scoring on a Levi Loughridge sacrifice fly to tie the game up, 8-8. Taylor McLeod would walk, steal second, advance to third on a wild pitch, and ultimately score on an errant throw from the pitcher, making it a 9-8 game, back in EU's favor.

Evangel would score four runs in the bottom of the fifth inning, the first coming on a pair of errors from UHSP. With two runners on, Riley Mitchell would hit a home run to right center field, giving EU a 13-8 lead over UHSP.

The Valor added an insurance run in the bottom of the sixth inning on a no-doubt home run by Brooks Epsy to make it a 14-10 game, solidifying the win in game one.

UHSP opened game two by scoring three runs, taking an early 3-0 lead over EU.

UHSP pitchers would struggle with control in game two, as Evangel took advantage by working multiple walks. Isaac Miller opened the game with a walk and a Riley Mitchell home run to right field scored Miller, making it a 3-2 game. Levi Loughridge would work a walk and Brooks Espy would be hit by a pitch, as both scored on a Jeremy Vickers double, giving EU a 4-3 lead.

In the bottom of the second, both Isaac Miller and Taylor McLeod would work walks. Miller would come around to score on an error from the catcher, while McLeod scored on an error from the left fielder. Levi Loughridge, who had walked in his at-bat, came around to score on a Eli Cook sacrifice fly, giving EU a 7-3 lead.

Arly Miller was hit by a pitch to open the bottom of the third and scored on a Taylor McLeod home run, making it a 9-3 EU lead.

After UHSP scored a pair of runs in the top of the fourth, Evangel responded with a run of their own in the bottom of the inning. Arly Miller worked a walk and Parker Ellifritz, the courtesy runner, scored on a Isaac Miller double, keeping EU ahead, 10-5.

UHSP would score a run in the top of the fifth to make it a 10-6 game, but Evangel would plate eight runs in the bottom of the sixth to push the game out of reach. Arly Miller opened the inning with a single, followed by an Isaac Miller single. Riley Mitchell would single to score Garret Trantham, who had came in to run for the catcher. A fielder's choice by Taylor McLeod scored Miller and a Levi Loughridge home run down the left field line scored McLeod to clear the bases. Holton Simmons, Cade Beshore, and Garret Trantham would all consecutively work walks to load the bases for EU and a double by Cole Leonhart would score Simmons and Beshore. An Adam Denniston groundout would score Trantham and a Isaac Miller double scored Cole Leonhart, making it an 18-6 game, in favor of EU.

Jed Montgomery closed the door on UHSP, solidifying the sweep for Evangel over UHSP on Tuesday.
