SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – After coming off a three game series road trip at McPherson, Evangel Baseball returned home to host the College of the Ozarks Bobcats in a single nine-inning match.
Although Evangel would lead for the majority of the match, C of O would generate offense and take advantage of Valor miscues to score six runs in the eighth inning, as EU fell, 8-4.

Evangel hit .212 on Tuesday, their 3rd lowest batting average in a game this season.

Riley Mitchell went 2-3 from the plate on Tuesday, including a two run home run to straight away center field.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Evangel got on the scoreboard first in the game, as Matthew Olson opened the bottom of the third with a double down the left field line. A Riley Mitchell single scored Olson, making it a 1-0 Evangel lead.

CofO would hit a two run home run in the top of the fourth to take the lead, 2-1.

The Valor would retake the lead in the bottom of the fifth inning, using clutch batting with two outs. After a Jeremiah Leaming single up the middle with two outs, Jeremy Vickers would double to right center field, scoring Parker Ellifritz who came in to run for Leaming. Riley Mitchell would follow Vickers at bat with a long home run to straight away center field, making it a 4-2 Valor lead.

Neither team would make any noise in the sixth and seventh innings, but in the top of the eighth, the Bobcats would score six runs, taking advantage of three Evangel errors and timely hitting to take an 8-4 lead over EU.

The Valor would get a pair of runners on base in the bottom of the ninth, but they would be left stranded as Evangel fell to the Bobcats, 8-4.
