HOW IT HAPPENED

  • McPherson struggled with control early from their pitching staff. After Isaac Miller and Riley Mitchell worked a pair of walks, Taylor McLeod was hit by a pitch to load the bases. Levi Loughridge hit a single to score Miller and Mitchell and Jeremy Vickers walked to reload the bases. After McLeod scored on a passed ball, Carson Sturdefant hit a single to clear the bases, making it a 5-0 game in favor of the Valor.

  • Evangel continued their strong offense in the second inning. Isaac Miller, Riley Mitchell, Taylor McLeod, and Levi Loughridge all consecutively singled, scoring Miller and Mitchell. Eli Cook blasted a home run to score McLeod and Loughridge, making it 10-0. After a Matthew Olson single, Arly Miller was hit by a pitch. Isaac Miller followed the at bat with a three run blast of his own, making it 13-0, Evangel.

  • Taylor McLeod doubled to open the third inning and an Eli Cook single scored McLeod, giving EU a 14-0 lead.

  • McPherson would plate a pair of runs in the bottom of the fourth, making it a 14-2 Valor lead.

  • In the top of the sixth, Carson Sturdefant opened the inning by being hit by a pitch. After stealing second, Sturdefant came around to score on a Matthew Olson single, extending the lead to 15-2.

  • Evangel again scored additional runs, this time in the top of the seventh. Riley Mitchell opened the inning with a double, followed by a single from Taylor McLeod and a walk from Levi Loughridge to load the bases. A Jeremy Vickers pop up was deep enough to score Mitchell and Eli Cook once again blasted a shot to score McLeod and Loughridge, putting EU ahead, 19-2.

  • After a strong starting performance from Colby Vavruska, Caden O'Bryan shut the door on the Bulldogs, solidifying Evangel's 19-2 win on Monday.
