STERLING, Kan. – Valor Men's Soccer traveled to Kansas on Saturday, looking to play hard with a shorthanded squad after several key injuries hit the team. Despite generating several quality chances on Saturday, the Valor could not overcome a first half deficit, falling 0-2.
Evangel opened the first half with Andrea Fincato generating a pair of chances for the Valor, but both were stopped by the Sterling goalkeeper. The Warriors responded by scoring on a penalty shot after Evangel was called for a foul in the box, giving Sterling a 1-0 lead. At the 36 minute mark, the Valor again nearly scored an equalizer, getting a pair of shots on corner kicks, but neither scored, as EU trailed 0-1, heading into the halftime break.
Sebastian Molina and Ted Okoroh opened the second half by creating shot opportunities, again nearly scoring if not for strong saves by the Warriors keeper. The Valor could not put forth much more offense as Sterling scored a late goal to make the game 2-0 and out of reach for Evangel, as they fell on Saturday.
