SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – Valor Women's Soccer played host to the Southwestern College Moundbuilders on Wednesday (Oct. 23) evening, looking to take a win as the season begins to narrow down. Evangel played a strong overall game, earning chances on offense and limiting shots on defense, but could not find a game winning goal, earning a 0-0 draw on Wednesday.
Southwestern generated the majority of the offense in the beginning of the first half, recording five shot opportunities in the span of four minutes of play. The Valor responded with one of their best chances of the night, a free kick from Ava Campbell that would have been buried in the top left corner of the goal, if not for a strong save from the Southwestern keeper. Both teams had opportunities to end the half, but each team took a 0-0 draw into the halftime break.
Evangel came out firing to open the second half, with Makayla Myers earning a pair shots, but saves from the keeper kept EU off the scoreboard. The Valor dominated the second half offensively, with Dajah Boykin, Ava Campbell, and McKenzie Calhoun all earning shot attempts, but again, not finding the game winner. Southwestern was held scoreless in the second half as well, as both teams took a hard fought 0-0 draw.

QUOTABLE
"This evening we created quite a few opportunities to score. We moved the ball well and got ourselves in good positions to finish with 12 shots on goal, but we couldn't put any away," Women's Soccer Head Coach Bruce Deaton stated. "We defended well again and picked up another clean sheet. At this stage of the season, a point helps us maintain our position on the table. It was definitely a positive result with the draw."
