SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – A big night from
Kamie Jenkins helped power the Evangel women's basketball team to a 66-51 win over Bethel College Wednesday night in KCAC action.
The Valor improved to 9-5 on the season and 7-4 in league play to move a game ahead of the Threshers. Bethel fell to 6-11 overall and 6-5 in the conference standings.
Jenkins helped the Valor start hot racing to a 14-9 first quarter lead. She finished with a career-high 25 points and pulled down 18 rebounds.
Bethel rallied back to tie the game 28-28 at halftime, however, an 11-2 run by the Valor built an Evangel lead they would never relinquish. Evangel led by as many as 15 throughout the fourth quarter as Bethel tried to comeback.
The Valor shot 36 percent from the field and out-rebounded the Threshers 55-38.
Lydia Babirye also finished in double figures with 12 points and added nine boards.
NOTEABLE
- Evangel tallied 23 assists on 25 made field goals.
- The Valor bench outscored Bethel 24-6.
- Jazzy Kirby added six points and five assists for Evangel.
