LINDSBORG, Kan. – Valor Volleyball continued their road trip on Saturday (Sept. 23) afternoon, looking to take their third KCAC conference win, this time over the Bethany Swedes. Evangel struggled on offense in the entire match, ultimately falling to the Swedes in three straight sets after hitting a -.031 on the afternoon.
Evangel began the first set in an early deficit, falling behind 8-3. EU would fight back, capturing a two point advantage over the Swedes that they would hold until the score was 18-16 in favor of the Valor. Bethany ended the set on a 9-2 run, aided by several Evangel attacking errors, as EU fell 25-20 in set one.
A -.163 attacking percentage in set two by the Valor told the story of the set as EU fell behind early, hitting into several attacking errors and giving Bethany a large 14-8 lead. Evangel would fight back using a pair of Bella Wakley kills, accompanied by several Bethany attacking errors to draw within a single point of the Swedes, 19-18, but a 6-3 run to end the set by Bethany gave the home team the win in set two, 25-21.
Despite losing the first point of set three, Evangel never trailed until the very end of the final set. Again, the Valor were able to take a small lead over Bethany, but were never able to create enough of a rhythm to take the set win over the Swedes. Leading 23-22, Evangel hit into a pair of attacking errors and lost the lead, ultimately losing the set, 25-23.
