SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – Valor Women's Soccer concluded their home stand on Saturday (Sept. 23) afternoon, taking on the Bethany Swedes and looking for their second conference win of the year. The Valor put forth a dominant showing, scoring three goals on offense and taking a 3-0 victory over Bethany.
Evangel came out with a fast offensive pace, scoring in the first minute and a half of the match when Anna Crain passed off a nice through pass that found the feet of McKenzie Calhoun, who netted the goal to give EU a 1-0 lead. The Valor continued to attack the Bethany back line and goalkeeper, consistently putting shots on goal, looking for their second score of the match. At the 38:39 mark of the match, Evangel's Liyah Collins scored the second goal of the match, after the keeper overplayed a free kick, giving Collins an open opportunity at goal. The Valor recorded 10 shots in the first half, taking a 2-0 lead into the halftime break.
The Valor defense continued their strong play in the second half, allowing just three Bethany shots in the entire 45 minutes, with only one shot being on goal. The Valor recorded their third goal of the match towards the end of the game when Anna Crain nailed a corner kick that snuck past the goalkeeper, solidifying Evangel's 3-0 victory over the Bethany Swedes.

QUOTABLE
"Before the match today, we talked about the importance of the match and getting ourselves to 2-2 in conference and then never looking back. We were able to create a lot of chances today and convert on a few, keeping our opponents off the board which is always a good day," Women's Soccer Head Coach Bruce Deaton stated. "The goal to start the match was incredibly special with a brillant pass from Anna to McKenzie to score in less than 90 seconds. A clean sheet for our first shutout in our new conference helped us have a good day indeed!"
