HILLSBORO, Kan. – Valor Women's Soccer traveled to Hillsboro on Saturday (Sept. 30) evening, looking to take their second consecutive conference win, this time against the Tabor Bluejays. Despite a fairly even matchup, the Bluejays were able to capitalize on their offensive opportunities as the Valor ultimately fell to Tabor, 2-0.

Evangel opened the game with a pair of shots, but it would be Tabor who scored the first goal, taking a 1-0 lead at the 17:44 mark of the match. The Valor would find an opportunity towards the end of the half when Anna Crain recorded a shot on goal, but the Tabor keeper stopped the shot attempt, as EU trailed, 1-0, heading into the halftime break.

Tabor was able to extend their lead to two goals early in the second half, scoring on a corner kick to take a 2-0 lead. The Valor were able to record four additional chances in the half, but were unable to capitalize against the Bluejays goalkeeper. Tabor kept pressure on the Valor backline and with limited chances remaining in the game, the Bluejays were able to capture a 2-0 victory over Evangel.

  • The Valor recorded one more corner than the Bluejays in Saturday's loss.

QUOTABLE

"While I am disappointed in the result, I am not disappointed in our play overall. We were quite evenly matched this evening and created several quality chances to score," Women's Soccer Head Coach Bruce Deaton stated. "We do need to be a bit more aggressive and physical when we are out of possession, which will also help increase our speed in transition to attack."
