SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – Evangel Women's Basketball opens their 2023-24 season on Friday and Saturday (Nov. 10/11) in the MACU Classic, taking on the John Brown Golden Eagles and the MACU Evangels.
Tip-off for the John Brown game begins at 5:00 p.m. on Friday night with the MACU game following on Saturday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
SERIES HISTORY
Evangel and John Brown will match up in their 48th all-time meeting on Friday, with the Valor leading the all-time matchup, 24-23. Evangel and MACU will match up in their third all-time meeting on Saturday, trailing all-time against the Evangels, 0-2.
OPENING STORYLINES

First year head coach Jim Middleton looks to lead the Valor to a strong first season in the KCAC. Middleton, a Missouri Sports Hall of Famer, had an exceptional head coaching career at Division II Southwest Baptist in Bolivar.

Evangel returns leading scorer Micah Clayton this season who averaged 9.5 points per game. Also returning is Jazzy Kirby, who is the second leading returning scorer (7.7).

Lexi Berry and Emma Mullings also return from last season as leaders from last year's team. Berry averaged two assists per game,while Mullings came on strong to end last season.

Evangel went 13-15 last season, falling in the Heart Conference Tournament Quarterfinals to eventual national champion,Clarke.

Evangel went 0-2 last season in the MACU Classic, falling to both John Brown and MACU.
LOOKING AHEAD
Evangel will compete in their home opener on Wednesday (Nov. 15) evening, taking on the Tabor Bluejays at 5:30 p.m. in the Ashcroft Center.
