Box Score

ATCHISON, Kan. – Evangel Women's Basketball hit the road on Friday (Nov. 6) night to open the Holiday Inn Classic in Atchison, Kansas. The Valor matched up with the 15th-ranked Benedictine Ravens in their first game of the classic and a late first quarter run for the Ravens proved to be the difference on Friday as EU could not climb back into the game, falling 94-72.

Evangel went point for point with Benedictine to open play on Friday night, as all five starters scored points to tie the game at 15-15 with 4:50 remaining in the quarter. The Valor offense grew cold after scoring their fifteenth point, as the Ravens generated a 19-3 run to jump out to a 34-18 lead over the Valor at the end of the first quarter.

Benedictine continued to add to their lead in the second quarter, taking as large as a 25-point advantage against Evangel with 3:24 remaining in the first half of play. Kamie Jenkins, Alyssa Walker, and Lydia Babirye all scored points to draw EU within 19 points but free throws at the end of the half allowed the Ravens to lead Evangel, 54-33, at the halftime break.

The Valor were able to come out quickly in the third quarter and partially swing momentum in the period, as a basket from Kamie Jenkins with 3:48 remaining in the quarter made it just a 12-point deficit, 62-50. Once again though, the Ravens had an answer for the EU run, closing out the quarter with a 17-point lead, 74-54.

Evangel could not find an answer in the fourth quarter against Benedictine, as the damage had been done early in the game, resulting in the Valor dropping their first contest of the season, 93-72, against the 15th-ranked Benedictine Ravens on Friday night.
