Valor Volleyball Competes in 2023 Regular Season Finale on Saturday

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – After sweeping Avila at home on Wednesday (Nov. 1) evening for senior night, Valor Volleyball hits the road for their final regular season matchup for the 2023 season, taking on (RV) Kansas Wesleyan in Salina, Kansas, at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday (Nov. 4) morning.

OPENING STORYLINES 

  • Evangel swept Avila on Wednesday, 3-0.

  • Bella Wakley leads the team in kills so far this season, currently with 287.

  • Leah Jackson leads Evangel in assists with 429, averaging just shy of five assists per set (4.88) Jessica Pritchett has also broken 400 assists this year, currently with 424.

  • Sophomore Vivianna Sanchez leads the team with 112 blocks so far this year, currently averaging 1.27 per set which is ninth in the nation.

  • Jessica Pritchett leads the Valor in service aces with 27 so far this season.

  • Kenna Wise leads Evangel in digs, breaking the 500 mark with 506 and is 13th in the nation in digs per set, averaging 5.75 overall.

  • The Valor take on Kansas Wesleyan in their fifth meeting on Saturday and are 4-0 all-time against their opponent. Evangel's last win over the Coyotes came back in 2014, when they won in straight sets, 3-0.

  • With Saturday being Evangel's final regular season match, playoffs will begin next week. Evangel could finish as the #4, #5, or #6 seed in the conference tournament. Scenarios are listed below.

LOOKING AHEAD

Evangel will await the completion of matches on Saturday (Nov. 4) to see who they will host for the first round of the KCAC conference tournament. The Valor will host on Tuesday (Nov. 7) evening at 7:00 p.m. in the Ashcroft Center.
