SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – The Evangel women's basketball team dropped its Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference opener Wednesday evening, 65-49, to Tabor College inside the Ashcroft Center.
Evangel fell to 1-2 overall and 0-1 in conference action while Tabor moved to 3-2 overall and 1-0 in the KCAC.
The Valor struggled offensively shooting just 37 percent from the field, while the Blue Jays shot 48 percent after opening its lead in the second quarter. Tabor used a 7-0 run midway through the first quarter to take a 10-8 lead and never looked back.
Solid defense helped Evangel keep it close pulling within 10 at the 6:03 mark of the fourth quarter on a
Jade Hinzman layup. However, Tabor answered to pull away under three minutes left in the game after a pair of
Lexi Berry free throws made it an 11-point deficit for the Valor.
Jazzy Kirby led Evangel with nine points, four rebounds and three assists, while
Emma Mullings and
Kamie Jenkins each added seven points.

- Lydia Babirye and Jade Hinzman led Evangel with five rebounds each coming off the bench.
- The Valor out-rebounded the Blue Jays 33-32, and pulled down 12 offensive boards to just 6 for Tabor.
