WINFIELD, Kan. – After a strong victory over McPherson last Saturday, Valor Women's Soccer took to the road to take on the Southwestern College Moundbuilders. Despite scoring an early goal, Southwestern was able to generate a game winner in the second half, as EU fell to the Moundbuilders, 2-1, in full time.
On just Southwestern's second shot of the game, the Moundbuilders got on the board at the 6:05 mark. Just third seconds later, Evangel quickly responded, scoring on a Anna Crain corner that was perfectly placed for an Ava Campbell header, tying the game up at 1-1. Evangel's header that resulted in a goal was EU's lone shot of the first half, as the Valor defense locked down the Moundbuilders, keeping them from scoring after they recorded several shot attempts, taking a 1-1 tie into the halftime break.
Ava Campbell opened the second half with a shot attempt that went wide left for the Valor, Evangel's second shot attempt of the game. Southwestern was able to respond with a tough shot that hit the top of the goal, just out of reach of Rylee Clapp's grasp, putting SWC ahead, 2-1. The Valor were able to continue to generate strong shot attempts in the match, but could not find the equalizer, as they ultimately fell, 2-1.

QUOTABLE
"Tough result tonight, Southwestern's second goal was a nice finish. I loved how we played and had chances throughout the second half to level it, but we just weren't able to. I'm disappointed in the result but am definitely pleased overall with how we played," Women's Soccer Head Coach Bruce Deaton stated. "Our goal in the first half was incredible. A brilliant finish off by Ava Campbell off a great service on the corner by Anna Crain."
