BARTLESVILLE, Okla. – Valor Volleyball traveled to Oklahoma on Wednesday (Oct. 11) evening, taking on the Oklahoma Wesleyan Eagles, who were earning votes in the most recent national coaches poll. Although Evangel was able to force a fourth set, EU could not force a comeback, falling 3-1.

Evangel hung point for point with OKWU in set one, using several kills from Bella Wakley and blocks from different Valor defenders to make it a 14-13 game in favor of the Eagles. OKWU used a 6-1 run immediately after to push out to a 20-14 lead over Evangel, which led to the Valor ultimately falling, 25-17, in set one.

Set two proved to be a set full of runs from both sides. OKWU opened the set on a 5-0 run, followed by a 5-1 run by EU. Another 5-0 Eagles run made it 11-5, and although Evangel was able to score three additional points, the Eagles continued their strong offense, taking a 18-9 lead over the Valor. Several attacking errors by OKWU and kills from Sharayah Seymour helped Evangel draw close to the Eagles, but would not be enough as the Valor fell, 25-17, in set two.

A dominant offensive performance from Abi Menzies in set three helped Evangel capture a win. EU pushed out to a 9-5 lead on four kills and a block from Menzies. Oklahoma Wesleyan was able to fight back in the set, keeping the game close. On two occasions, the Eagles were able to draw within a single point of the Valor. With the score at 24-23 in favor of Evangel, Abi Menzies recorded a block to push EU to a 25-23 set victory, forcing a fourth set.

Evangel's offense struggled in the fourth set. The Eagles pushed out to an early lead in the set and the Valor never found a rhythm on offense in the set, as OKWU claimed the win, 25-10, in four sets.
