Location: Springfield, Mo. (Ashcroft Center)

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – After sweeping Peru State and Graceland last weekend, Evangel returned home to host Baker on Tuesday night. The Valor used a steady attack and took advantage of several Baker miscues to claim their third consecutive conference sweep, 3-0.

In set one, both Evangel and Baker kept the game close. Several attacking errors by both sides slowed the pace of the game as neither team could record very many kills. With the game tied at 16-16, the Valor found the kills they were looking for, as seven of the next nine points were kills, giving the Valor a 25-18 victory in set one as the Valor finished on a 9-2 run. Evangel picked up where they left off with a stronger attack than the beginning of the game in set two. After trailing 6-5 early, Evangel found a 7-0 run from blocks by Sharayah Seymour and Bella Wakley, as well as a pair of service aces by Leah Jackson. After the run, Evangel was never threatened in the second set as they worked for a pair of 5-0 runs to distance themselves from Baker on the scoreboard, 25-13. The Valor finally found their strong consistent attack in the third and final set when they hit a game high .400 attacking percentage. Several Wildcat attacking errors and kills on the EU side gave Evangel all the momentum they needed to finish off Baker, 25-16, in the final set.

HIGHLIGHTS

  • Rylie Morrison led the Valor with a team high of eight kills.
