HENDERSON, Tenn. – Valor Women's Soccer traveled to Tennessee on Saturday afternoon to take on the Lions of Freed-Hardeman. Both teams fought to grab the fourth win of their season and ultimately it would be the home Lions of Freed-Hardeman taking the victory over the Valor, 2-0.
In the first half, Freed-Hardeman found many opportunities on offense, racking off eight shots in the first 25 minutes of the match. Evangel played stellar defense, not allowing the Lions attack to overwhelm the Valor. With 30 minutes played, the Lions finally connected on a shot, scoring the first goal of the match to take a 1-0 lead. The Valor were able to record a shot on goal to end the half, but trailed at halftime, 1-0.
Evangel struggled to generate much offense in the second half, although the two shots they did record were quality shots on goal. Freed-Hardeman kept the offensive pressure on and after recording eight shots in the second half, the Lions connected on a shot in the final two minutes of the game to take a 2-0 lead they maintained to the finish.

"They (FHU) won the predominance of the 50/50 challenges and performed better physically tonight. We were a bit challenged with connecting passes in the first half and improved in the second," Women's Soccer Head Coach Bruce Deaton stated. "We created some solid chances in goal that we just could not finish this evening. The frustrating part is that we continue to get better and once we connect all aspects of the game together, we will get more results our way. We are prepared and focused on the challenges that conference play will bring this week."

Evangel will return home for the conference opener against (14) Missouri Valley at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday (Sept. 14) night.
