SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – Evangel Women's Soccer honored 10 seniors on Saturday as they took on the Pride of Clarke. After getting out to an early lead, Clarke found a strong offensive rhythm and took the victory over EU, 5-1.
Evangel's very first shot attempt of the game came from senior Sophie Boyer who got past the defense and put the Valor up, 1-0, early on a nice shot attempt. Clarke quickly responded to the early challenge and netted four goals over the next 17 minutes to take a 4-1 lead. The Valor's Reese Hertel recorded another shot attempt for EU in the first half, but could not put it in the back of the net, as EU trailed 4-1 at the half.
Clarke added an additional goal in the second half as Evangel's offense was unable to respond to the Pride attack. Anna Crain used a shot near the 78th minute, but a team save stopped it from scoring as the Valor fell, 5-1.
