Springfield, Mo. – The Evangel volleyball team blew past the University of Health Sciences and Pharmacy to win in three straight sets on Tuesday night. Evangel only briefly trailed during the second set and put UHSP away with an excellent offensive attack.

Highlights

• Evangel used a 13-5 scoring run to close out the opening set after UHSP had pulled to within 12-10

• EU hit 0.257 as a team with 15 kills and six attack errors in the opening set

• Bridget Petersen hit 0.583 with seven kills in the game.

• Jorden Stacey served two aces in the opening set

• EU overcame UHSP leads of 8-4 and 12-7 in the second set, logging a 17-4 spurt to close out the win

• Evangel finished off the victory with a dominant third set, jumping out to a 7-1 advantage thanks to kills from four different players in the opening moments of the set

• EU delivered yet another strong finish, claiming the final eight points of the set and match to complete the sweep

• EU hit .301 as a team and logged 8 service aces (four by Stacey) for the match

• Lowry (11 kills) and Eklund (9) led Evangel in kills

• Eklund hit 0.438 for the match, topped only by Petersen's 0.583

• Stacey added match-highs of 23 assists and 13 digs to go along with her four aces

• Evangel logged its fourth win in its last five matches overall

Up Next

Evangel will match-up with Culver-Stockton at home for the Evangel Classic on Sept. 10 at 7 p.m. and follow that with two weekend matchups at home with Tabor and College of the Ozarks on Saturday.
