North Sioux City, S.D. – The Evangel volleyball team went undefeated on the first day of the CSM Labor Day Classic in a five-set decision to Briar Cliff (3-2) and a three-set sweep of William Jessup (3-0).
Evangel overcame dropping two consecutive sets to emerge victorious in their 11 a.m. matchup with Briar Cliff.
Jorden Stacey began the first set breaking EU's digs in a career record while helping lead them to a first set win. EU slowed down and dropped sets two and three. In the fourth set, EU shook off the previous two sets and after back-to-back service aces by Lowry, Evangel grabbed the lead and never lost it for the remainder of the set. In the deciding set, EU went down 9-5, but continued to show they could beat adversity. Stacey went on a run of 6 consecutive serves and took the lead for EU, who never looked back winning 15-12.
