SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – Despite scoring the game's first goal and giving No. 8 Central Methodist all it wanted for much of the first half of Wednesday evening's Heart Conference matchup, the Evangel women's soccer team ultimately succumbed to the Eagles' offensive barrage in a 7-1 setback.
McKinley Yoder put the Valor on top with her first goal of the season at the 25:52 mark of the opening half, only to see CMU's Andrea Villar score three consecutive goals to turn the tide in the Eagles' favor.
CMU led 4-1 at the half, before a fourth Villar goal in the opening minutes of the second stanza extended the lead.
"We felt we would spend a great deal of time defending this evening, and that proved to be the case," Evangel head coach Bruce Deaton said. "Although we conceded some goals, we played well and continued our growth tonight. CMU was better and played some incredible team soccer. We are a better team than we were just two weeks ago, and the goal that McKinley Yoder scored tonight was brilliant."

- Yoder scored on the Valor's first shot of the match, beating CMU goal keeper Alexis Garlock on a breakaway opportunity for a 1-0 EU lead
