MARSHALL, Mo. – The Evangel men's tennis team sustained a 6-1 conference setback to Grand View Saturday afternoon at Indian Foothills Park.
Grand View swept the doubles competition, with Christian Barbieri/Dylan Ramsay topping Daryl Wong/James McIlwraith (6-3), the duo of Rafael Silva/Lennart Poeppelbass edging Sam Coryell/Jarrett Teel (6-0) and Esaias Backlund and James Cole completing the sweep with a 6-4 win over EU's Luke Carpenter and Jordan Letterman.
Evangel's lone victory came from Luke Carpenter, who rallied to knock off Wesley Weichman (2-6, 6-1, 11-9) after dropping the first set.
Grand View logged straight-set wins by Barbieri (7-6, 6-2), Ramsay (6-2, 6-1), Silva (6-2, 6-0), Poeppelbuss (6-4, 6-0) and Backlund (6-2, 6-2) to complete its victory.
