POINT LOOKOUT, Mo. – The Evangel volleyball team shook off three months of rust with a straight-set victory (25-7, 25-19, 25-19) over College of the Ozarks Wednesday evening at Keeter Gymnasium.

Tori Lowry and Ciera Reyes recorded 10 kills apiece, while Bridget Petersen added seven kills and a pair of blocks, and Erin Russell registered a game-high 17 digs for the Crusaders.

In their first spring match in preparation of next week's Heart of America Athletic Conference Volleyball Championship, the Crusaders wasted little time in kicking their attack into high gear. EU hit 0.440 in an opening-set 25-7 rout, claiming 17 of the final 20 points of the game, while the Bobcats registered a -0.069 hitting percentage.

EU took control of the second set by winning six of seven points after CofO had pulled to within 16-14.

The Crusaders then iced the victory by building a 7-2 lead in the third that they would never relinquish. The Bobcats trimmed their deficit to a single point on two separate occasions, but EU had an answer each time to close out the win.
