ST. LOUIS, Mo. – The Valor WBB team took on the University of Health Sciences and Pharmacy on Monday night in St. Louis. Unfortunately for the Valor, foul trouble would prove to be too much for EU, as they dropped the match, 71-86.

In the first quarter, UHSP and EU would battle back and forth. With the score at 9-12, the Eutectics would go on a 7-2 run to take the first quarter, leading 11-19. Grace Beyer would lead all scorers with 12 points. Zoey Mullings would lead EU with 4.

In the second quarter, the Valor would push to make the game closer before halftime. A quick 7-0 run for the Valor, fueled by two Alexis Cauthon layups and an Abby Wildermuth three, would make the score 21-22 in the Eutectics favor. Each team would trade baskets until UHSP would push back out to a slight advantage. When the halftime buzzer sounded, EU trailed UHSP, 38-42. Mullings would lead EU with 8 points while Beyer would continue to be the difference maker in the ball game, leading all scorers with 23 points.

The third quarter would be the difference maker in the ball game. With 6:49 remaining in the third, EU would tie the game up at 44 apiece. Unfortunately, the Eutectics would answer back with a 11-0 run in the span of two minutes to extend their lead. EU would get into foul trouble in the third quarter, getting called for ten fouls compared to UHSP's two. The Valor would cut the score back down to only a 7 point Eutectic lead, but UHSP would again go on a run, ending the third quarter leading by 11, 55-66. Wildermuth would lead EU in scoring with 12 points. Beyer would continue to be UHSPs go to, leading the Eutectics with 31 points.

In the fourth quarter, UHSP would slam the door shut on any possible Valor comeback attempt. EU could not match the Eutectics basket for basket as UHSP would clinch the game, 71-86. Beyer led all scorers with 41 points, 19 of which would come from the free throw line. UHSP gained a huge advantage from the charity stripe, shooting 32-38 in the game, compared to EU's 11-15.

Five EU players finished in double figures, led by Wildermuth's 16 points; Mullings contributed 12, while Cauthon also tacked on 11 for the Valor. Kohnnar Patton and Sophie Sparks would also add 10 apiece. EU shot 41.2% to UHSPs 43.1%. The Valor defense forced 15 turnovers and recorded 6 steals. Mullings led all rebounders with 8 boards.
