Springfield, Mo. – The Valor faced off against Peru State on Saturday morning and came away with a hard-fought win, 3-1.

EU began the morning attacking well, but it was Peru State's lack of offense that allowed the Valor to take the first set, 25-12. The Bobcats finished the first set with a -.185 attacking percentage in comparison to EU's .227. In the second set, Peru State played better offensively, but EU's offense was too much for them. The Bobcats would make things interesting by going on a 5-0 run with EU leading 24-17, but a Bridget Petersen kill from Jorden Stacey would stifle the Bobcats, 25-22. The third set saw EU take a step back offensively, as the Bobcats recorded their best attacking percentage of the game. The teams would go back and forth with points, but ultimately a Leah Jackson service error and a Haley VanLeuven kill would give Peru State their only set win of the game. In the fourth and final set, EU would put away any comeback attempt for the Bobcats, hitting a solid .300 and going on runs of 3-0, twice, and 5-0 to take the win, 25-15.

"Our team is fighting through adversity with three players out due to injury," Valor head coach Mary Whitehead stated, "To pick up our 4th straight conference win under those circumstances shows the grittiness of this group. Every game is important so we picked up big wins this week."

Highlights

• Regan Ansley finished the game leading the team in kills with 13, hitting a nice .565 attacking percentage.

• Stacey finished the game with a team high 20 assists, her second game in a row with 20.

• Eryn Russell and Tori Lowry took charge for the team digging the ball, with 18 and 17, respectively.

• The Valor finished the night with 8 team blocks, one more than Peru's 7 on the night.

• Lowry and Petersen were the only other Valor attackers to finish with double digit kills, with 12 and 11, respectively.
