Box Score
DUBUQUE, Iowa – Evangel wiped out a 1-0 deficit on a Grace Wright goal in the 61st minute, but Clarke responded with three unanswered goals in the final 26 minutes of play to pull out a 4-1 victory over the Valor in Heart of America Athletic Conference action Saturday at Burrows Field.
Wright knotted the score at 1-1 with an unassisted goal at the 29:47 mark of the second half, but Avery Abbas scored less than four minutes later to put the Pride on top for good.
Carley Gyilling added a goal in the 75th minute, and Avery Woldruff completed the scoring with just under eight minutes to play.
"Sometimes small growth is big progress and, while we didn't get the result we were aiming for today, we battled and we progressed in this journey of our team," Evangel head coach Bruce Deaton said.
"Grace Wright scoring the equalizer in the 60th minute gave us a boost, but some challenges in front of the goal in those final 20 minutes cost us the match. The thing that most won't see are the patches of brilliant play, and they were there again today."
