SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – No. 22 Benedictine tallied a trio of first-half goals, then relied on a shutdown defensive effort to hand the Evangel women's soccer club a 4-0 setback in Heart of America Athletic Conference action Saturday evening at Coryell Field.
Hailey White scored off of a Madeline Stewart corner kick 20 minutes into the contest, before Emma Strecker and Madison Smith added unassisted goals later in the period.
Olivia Berry stopped all five EU shots on goal she faced, before Caroline Gyllenborg finished the shutout in goal by logging three saves in her 18 minutes of action.
Highlights
- White logged a game-high six shots, all of which were on goal
- Abbey Schmidt recorded 22 saves in goal for the Valor
- Grace Wright led EU's attack with two shots on goal, and Taylor Overstreet registered two total shots as well
- Strecker scored her third goal of the season in the 32nd minute, before Smith tallied her first with just over a minute left in the half
- Rachel Beffa capped the scoring just 37 seconds into the second with her fifth goal of the season off of a Sam Mausbach assist
- Benedictine finished with a 37-10 advantage in overall shots, including a 26-8 edge in shots on goal
