CONWAY, Ark. – The Evangel women's soccer team opened their season with a 7-0 road win over Central Baptist College.
The Crusaders scored two of their seven in the first half, the first of which came in the seventh minute when Emma McCall slotted home a pass from Grace Wright. Then Wright was able to find the back of the net herself when she buried a pass from Hailey Paulson in the 13th minute.
In the second half, Evangel really found their scoring touch, as they scored five times. Sedona Townsend (46th min.), Alyson Reinold (50th, 60th min.), McCall (67th), and Madison Maher all found the back of the net. Maher was assisted by Nadia Bedwell.
In all, the Crusaders had 22 shots, with 9 on goal.
Abbey Schmidt played the first half in the goal for Evangel, while Chloe Hancock and Elise Palmer split time in the second half. However, they weren't too busy as the Crusader defense didn't allow Central Baptist to get off a shot the entire game.
