BELLEVUE, Neb. – The Evangel volleyball team dropped a pair of matches Saturday to close out action at the Bellevue Premier Volleyball Classic.

The Crusaders fell, 3-0, to No. 15 Doane in an early morning match and came up just short, 3-1, against Warner (Fla.) in the final match of the tournament.

Evangel struggled to get going in a 9 a.m. match against 19th-ranked Doane. The Crusaders fell, 25-11, 25-10, 25-16 and failing to hit above the .100 mark for the first time this season.

Olivia Johnston led the Crusaders with eight kills while Hailey Nobiltt finished with a team-high 10 digs.

The second match of the afternoon saw Evangel hang with the Royals in a back and forth match. Warner took a 25-19, 15-25, 25-19, 27-25 win to close out tournament action.

Evangel was led by Olivia Johnston who tied a season-high 22 kills and a .268 hitting percentage as Heather Gahm also recorded double figure kills with 14.

Jorden Stacey led the Crusaders with 28 digs while Victoria Fishback finished with at least 46 assists for the second time this season.

UP NEXT
Evangel will host the Crusader Volleyball Classic next weekend, Sept. 8-9 at The Courts in Springfield. Action will start Friday at 1 p.m. and conclude Saturday afternoon.
