SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – The Evangel volleyball team was unable to overcome early errors Saturday afternoon in a 3-0 loss to Benedictine in Heart Conference action.

The Crusaders struggled hitting below the .100 mark, while the Ravens finished with a .313 hitting percentage. Benedictine took the first two sets 25-16, 25-13 before Evangel mounted a rally in the third set that came up just short, 25-23.

The Crusaders were led by Ayona Tharps and Bridget Petersen as each player finished with nine kills. Both Petersen and Tharps added three blocks on the defensive side of the net as well.

Victoria Fishback tallied 26 assists for Evangel in the loss.

Benedictine was led by Sofi Thomas who added a match-high 14 kills.

UP NEXT
Evangel returns to the road heading north next weekend against Graceland and Peru State. Evangel and the Yellowjackets meet up Friday night at 6 p.m. before a 10 a.m. first serve Saturday in Nebraska.
