SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – The Evangel volleyball team dropped its home opener to Central Methodist, 3-1, on Tuesday night in Heart of America Athletic Conference action.

The Crusaders jumped out to an early lead taking the first set, 25-22. However, the Eagles rallied to edge Evangel 25-22, 25-12 and 25-22 in the final three sets.

Both teams struggled offensively as Evangel hit .093 as a team and Central Methodist hit .194.

Evangel was led offensively by Heather Gahm 12 kills as Bridget Petersen added 10 kills. Victoria Fishback helped pace the offense with 41 assists, while Jorden Stacey tallied 24 digs.

Central Methodist was led by Madison Bond who posted a game-high 16 kills.

Evangel continues its home stand Friday against Baker in conference action. First serve is scheduled for 7 p.m.
