SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – The Evangel men's basketball team returns home Saturday to host league-leading and 2nd-ranked William Penn in conference action.
Wednesday's game will tip at 7:30 p.m. from the Ashcroft Center on the Evangel campus. The game can be seen on Evangel Game Central and around the world for free through EvangelAthletics.com and through the Evangel Athletics Mobile App available on iPhone and Android.
OPENING STORYLINES
► Evangel makes its final home appearance of the season Wednesday hosting MidAmerica Nazarene for Senior Night. The Crusaders will honor two seniors Richard Chapman and Nick Yocum prior to the game.
► The Crusaders fell 82-72 in the first meeting with the Pioneers in Olathe, Kan., after leading 36-28 at halftime. Both Richard Chapman and Josue Levy scored 18 points each in the loss.
► Seniors Nick Yocum (Republic, Mo.) and Richard Chapman each lead Evangel in scoring just above 12 points per game. Yocum leads the conference in free throw percentage at 91 percent on the season while Chapman leads Evangel in rebounding at 4.1 boards per game.
► Senior Nick Yocum has moved into third place all-time in three-pointers made with 215 passing Ryan Luethy (2002-06) on the list. Yocum also scored his 1,000th point on February 8, against Baker and currently has 1,040 points for his career.
► Senior Rich Chapman also moved into the top 10 all-time with 160 three-pointers made to push him into eighth place and just eight behind Daniel Cutbirth (1998-02). Chapman has also amassed 1,337 points for his career pushing him 19th all-time in Evangel history passing Korry Tillery (2012-15) last week.
► Junior Dylan Bekemeier has recorded 87 assists this season giving him the most in his career. The Republic, Mo., native is also just 22 assists away from crossing the 200 assist mark for his career.
