SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – The Evangel women's tennis team dropped its home opener Saturday, 9-0, to the 11th-ranked team in NCAA Division II, Southwest Baptist.

The Crusaders competed against the Bearcats at the top of the lineup in singles action before being edged by SBU. Evangel also pushed SBU at No. 1 doubles with Mairead Cleary and Alina Schweizer falling to Lara Soares and Lani Tuemmers, 8-6.

Evangel will host Baker in the conference opener March 4 at the Cooper Tennis Complex. The match is scheduled for a 1 p.m. start.
