SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – The Evangel University volleyball team fell in a thrilling five set match to rival College of the Ozarks, 3-2, Tuesday night inside the Ashcroft Center. 
The Crusaders and Bobcats matched points early before Evangel took a 2-1 lead with a dominating third set. However, the visiting Bobcats rallied to take the final two sets, and the match, as both teams saw their overall record even at .500. 
A trio of Crusaders finished with double figure kills, led by Morgan Kensinger who tallied 17 and a .349 hitting percentage. Close behind was Sandy Mohr with 14 kills and .371 percentage, while Brianna Justis posted a season high 30 assists and 25 digs for her ninth straight double-double. 
College of the Ozarks was able to edge the Crusaders down the stretch as Alex Spears posted 16 kills to lead the Bobcats. As a team the Bobcats hit .360 in the final set to seal the win.
 
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE         
- Three Crusaders finished with double figure kills led by Morgan Kensinger (17), Sandy Mohr (14) and Jackie Fugate (13).
- Fugate posted her fourth double-double of the year and second straight, adding 17 digs to go with her 13 kills.
- Allie Dunton-Moss recorded 37 digs and was one dig shy of the Evangel single-match record (38) set by Morgan Smith last season on Oct. 27, 2015 against College of the Ozarks.
- The 124 team digs by Evangel set a Heart Conference single-match high for the 2016 season surpassing Benedictine's mark of 116 digs set last weekend.
 
UP NEXT
Evangel will host the Crusader Classic starting Friday at 5 p.m. against St. Mary before hosting Bellevue at 7 p.m. Tournament action will conclude Saturday with matches against Tabor and John Brown.
