BELLEVUE, Neb. – The Evangel University volleyball team was unable to rally in each of its matches Saturday falling 3-2 against both Doane and Jamestown in the Bellevue Premier Tournament.
In the first match Evangel and Doane went back and forth before the Tigers edged the Crusaders in the final set. Evangel out-hit Doane with a .225 hitting percentage, while Sandy Mohr and Morgan Kensinger each tallied 13 kills.
The nightcap saw the Crusaders rally back from a 2-0 deficit before falling 3-2. Evangel struggled offensively in the match hitting above the .100 mark in just one set. Jackie Fugate led the way with 12 kills while Allie Dunton-Moss was solid defensively with 31 digs.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Evangel hit just .085 against Jamestown, the lowest mark this season, while the .225 hitting percentage against Doane was the second highest on the year.
- Allie Dunton-Moss posted 26 digs against Doane and 31 against Jamestown, her highest mark of the season. She entered the weekend ranked ninth in the nation in digs per set.
- Morgan Kensinger recorded eight blocks against Doane and five against Jamestown. She ranked in the top 10 individually in blocks.
- The Crusaders have lost three straight for the first time since Oct. 18-25, 2014
- Evangel is 2-2 all-time vs. Doane and now 1-3 all-time against Jamestown.
UP NEXT
The Crusaders make their home debut Tuesday when they host College of the Ozarks. First serve from the Ashcroft Center is scheduled for 7 p.m.
