COLUMBIA, Mo. – Leaving no doubt the Evangel University women's soccer team picked up the program's first victory Friday evening with a 4-1 win at Stephens College.
The Crusaders got a pair of goals from Lesleigh Fenton with her first coming in the 16th minute on an assist from Natalie Henry. After a goal from the Stars, Fenton would again find the net just before halftime to push Evangel to a 2-1 advantage.
Evangel continued its offensive assault with 10 shots in the second half resulting in goals from Becca Tucker and Allie Pritchett. Tucker's goal came off a deflection of a Stephens' player while Henry added her second assist of the night in the 67th minute for Pritchett's goal.
The Evangel defense was solid allowing just eight total shots from Stephens as Josie Gregory recorded three saves in goal.
Stephens' lone goal was from Sierra Thibault in the 31st minute of action.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- The four goals are the most scored by the Crusaders in a match setting a program record. The previous high was two as Evangel scored twice against Lake Forest College and Williams Baptist last season.
- A trio of Crusaders finished with multiple shots on goal as Fenton led the way with four and Allie Pritchett and Kacie Weatherly each finished with two.
- Evangel posted 13 first half shots and 10 second half shots while Stephens managed just five in the first half and three in the second.

Evangel returns home for its home opener Tuesday, August 30, against Central Baptist College. Action is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m. from the Lake Country Soccer Complex in Springfield.
