FULTON, Mo. – The Evangel University volleyball team wasted little time with a 3-0 sweep at William Woods Thursday evening in non-conference action. 

The Crusaders were led offensively by Jorie Garrett who posted 13 kills with a .379 hitting percentage, while Brianna Justis tallied a double-doubles with 12 assists and 11 digs. It was the fourth double-double of the young season for Justis. 

Evangel hit .250 as a team and finished with just one error in the third and deciding set as Allie Dunton-Moss and Morgan Kensinger were solid defensively. Dunton-Moss finished with 20 digs and Kensinger added seven blocks for the Crusades. 

William Woods was led by Stephanie Davis who added 13 kills in the loss.

THE LEADERS

Evangel: Jorie Garrett led the way with 13 kills while Brianna Justis posted her fourth double-double of the season with 12 assists and 11 digs.

William Woods: Stephanie Davis led the way with 13 kills while Brittney Engelbrecht tallied 25 assists.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE

- Brianna Justis posted her fourth double-double of the season adding 12 assists and 11 digs in the win.

- Evangel was impressive defensively holding its opponents to a below .100 hitting percentage for the third time this season. EU held William Woods to a .096 hitting percentage after limiting Tennessee Wesleyan and Wayland Baptist to sub .100 percentages as well.

- Offensively the .250 hitting percentage was the second highest mark on the early season for the Crusaders, while the 12 total errors were also the second lowest of the year.

UP NEXT

Evangel takes the weekend off before returning to the court next weekend in Nebraska. The Crusaders head to the Bellevue Tournament Friday and Saturday in Bellevue, Nebraska.
