Olathe, Kan. – Evangel women's tennis advanced to the semifinals of the Heart of America / American Midwest conference tournament on Friday with a 5-1 win over Lindenwood-Belleville (Ill.) in Olathe, Kansas.
The Crusaders, seeded second in the tournament, won two of their three doubles matches then clinched the win with victories in singles play by their top three players. Jenna Elliott, Breanna Feemster and Mairead Cleary all picked up straight set wins giving Evangel the five points they needed to clinch the win in the quarterfinals.
Evangel improved to 8-7 and won for the sixth time in their last seven matches. The Lynx dropped to 2-12.
The Crusaders advance to the semifinals where they will face third seeded Missouri Valley on Saturday at 11 a.m. in Olathe, Kansas. The winner of the Heart/AMC tournament advances to the NAIA national championship.
