Game Notes
Crusaders in rematch in #9 William Penn: Evangel hosts 9th ranked William Penn on Saturday at the Ashcroft Center in a rematch of the Crusaders' 90-89 win in Oskaloosa, Iowa on Jan. 9. Dylan Bekemeier's three-pointer with 10 seconds left at William Penn gave EU a one-point win and the first conference loss for the Statesmen.
Evangel is 6-19 and 5-12 in the Heart of America conference. The Crusaders have lost three straight including a 79-76 decision Wednesday at Avila in their last game when they had a six point lead with 1:04 remaining. Evangel's 19 losses are already the most they've had in 20 years when they went 9-23 in the 1995-96 season. The Crusaders have only had two below .500 seasons since that year, a 14-16 campaign in 1999-2000 and a 13-17 season in 2004-05.
William Penn enters Saturday's game in a first place tie in the league standings with MidAmerica Nazarene. The Statesmen, playing in their first season in the Heart of America, are 20-5 with a 13-4 conference record. They got by Culver-Stockton on Wednesday, 97-89 in their last game.
The Crusaders lead the all-time series 2-0 against William Penn.
Saturday's game will be broadcast live on EUTV and Mediacom cable channel 84 and 80-1 in HD.
