CANTON, Mo. – A pair of first half goals allowed Culver-Stockton to post a 3-0 victory over the Evangel University women's soccer team Friday night in Heart Conference action.
The first Wildcat goal came in the 27th minute from Heather Pendegraft from Sydnie Martin. Culver-Stockton added a second goal just before intermission as Emma McKinstry scored for the Wildcats in the 41st minute.
A second-half rally from the Crusaders was thwarted by the Wildcats who managed to out-shoot Evangel 6-4 in the final frame. A third and final goal for the home team was put on the board early in the second half as a deflected ball caused an own goal in the Crusaders' net.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Goalkeepers Josie Gregory and Caitlyn Cox tallied four saves in the match. Gregory played all 45 minutes in the first half while Cox earned 45 minutes in the second period.
- The Crusaders were shutout for the third straight match and the fifth time this season.
- Friday's road match ends a streak of three straight road games as Evangel has played six of their last nine away from Coryell Field going back to September 9.
