PERU, Neb. – The Evangel University volleyball team fell Thursday afternoon, 3-1, at Peru State in Heart Conference action. 

Sandy Mohr and Heather Gahm finished with 10 kills each to lead the Crusaders offensively. Mohr posted a .208 hitting percentage and added five blocks. 

Five different Crusaders tallied double digit digs as Jorie Garrett paced the group with 19. Garrett also added two blocks on the defensive side of the net. 

Both teams struggled offensively in the rare early mid-week start, as Evangel posted 24 hitting errors and the Bobcats tallied 27. Peru State built an early 2-0 lead before the Crusaders won the third set, however, Peru held off Evangel in the fourth set to claim its 25th win of the season.

Inside the Box Score

- As a team Evangel hit .097 in the match. It was the second lowest mark this season and just the second time the Crusaders were unable to top the .100 mark.

- Evangel finished with 10 team blocks in the loss. The Crusaders have recorded 10 or more blocks 16 times this season.

- After a month away from the Ashcroft Center the Crusaders play seven of their next nine matches at home including the final four of the regular season.

Evangel heads to College of the Ozarks next Wednesday for a mid-week non-conference match against the Bobcats. First serve from the Ketter Center is set for 7 p.m.
