SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – The Evangel University volleyball team got a lift from its upperclassmen Tuesday night as they held off Baker for a 3-1 win at the Ashcroft Center. 

The Crusaders nearly rallied back in the first set from an 18-24 deficit; however, the Wildcats took the set 26-24. The win elevated Evangel back above the .500 mark in Heart action as Baker fell to 5-5 in league play. 

Evangel would push back to take the next three sets, led by senior Jackie Fugate and sophomore Heather Gahm with 17 and 12 kills respectively. Fugate was red-hot recording a .548 hitting percentage as she finished with no errors on 31 attempts, while also earning a double-double with 10 digs. 

Defensively, senior Allie Dunton-Moss finished with 24 digs, while Fugate added five blocks to her stat line. Jorie Garrett tallied 18 digs as she was one of four players including Dunton-Moss to finish with 10 or more digs. 

Gabriella Miller led Baker with 14 kills and a .182 hitting percentage.
