SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – A late goal from Brooklyn Barnett gave the Evangel University women's soccer team a 1-0 victory over Clarke University in conference action at Coryell Field on Saturday afternoon. 

With the win, Evangel saw a couple of firsts including the first ever win at its new home Coryell Field. The win also marked the program's first Heart of America Conference victory since the program's inception last season.Barnett scored the goal in the 83rd minute to push Evangel on top 1-0. The goal was the latest game-winning goal scored by EU this season. 

Conference newcomer, Clarke out-shot Evangel 11-9, however, only four shots were on goal for the visitors. Evangel managed to place all nine shots on goal in the win.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE                     
- The goal for Barnett was her second of the season tying her for third on the team in goals scored.

- Goalkeepers Josie Gregory and Caitlyn Cox again split action, with each goalie working a half. Gregory finished with two saves while Cox tallied one in the shutout.

- The shutout is the third this season for Evangel as the win snaps an eight-game losing streak.

Evangel continues conference Wednesday as they head to Central Methodist. Action for the women's game is scheduled for a 7:30 p.m. start.
