POINT LOOKOUT, Mo. – The Evangel University volleyball team fell, 3-2, Wednesday night in non-conference action at College of the Ozarks. 

The Crusaders jumped out to an early lead winning the first set 25-18. However, the Bobcats rallied to edge Evangel 27-25 and 25-22 in the second and third sets before the Crusaders forced a fifth set. C of O would outlast Evangel in the final set 15-10 for the win and sweep the season series. 

Jorie Garrett led all players with 19 kills and a .236 hitting percentage. Brianna Justis helped pace the offense with 34 assists while Allie Dunton-Moss recorded 33 digs on the defensive side of the net. 

The Bobcats edged Evangel in hitting percentage, .180 to .179 while the Crusaders continued their solid defensive play with 13 team blocks.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE                     
- Freshman Sandy Mohr tallied nine blocks in the match, her second-highest total of the season.

- Evangel recorded 13 blocks as a team giving the Crusaders 16 games with double digit blocks.

- The Crusaders had four players finish with double-figure kills as Jackie Fugate added 16 kills. Fugate also posted a .271 hitting percentage and 19 digs.

- Four Crusaders tallied double-doubles in the match. Jorden Stacey earned 21 assists and 13 digs, Jorie Garret finished with 19 kills and 25 digs, Brianna Justis tallied 34 assists and 21 digs to join Fugate's 16 kills and 19 digs.

- Evangel has played its last 11 matches away from Springfield and the Ashcroft Center. The last true home match for the Crusaders came on Sept. 6 against College of the Ozarks.

Evangel makes its long-awaited return to the Ashcroft Center Friday night as they host conference newcomer, Clarke University. First serve from the Ashcroft Center is slated for 7 p.m.
