Olathe, Kan. – The ninth ranked Evangel volleyball team improved to 21-0 with two wins Saturday, including a 3-0 sweep of 19th ranked and defending NAIA national champion Park (Mo.), at the Rachel Magana Memorial Tournament at MidAmerica Nazarene. 

Evangel opened the day with a 3-0 (25-15, 25-20, 25-15) win over Lindenwood-Belleville. Senior Micah Guiot led the Crusaders with eight kills and senior Morgan Smith added 13 digs.  Senior Chloe Hadley recorded 12 assists and junior Morgan Kensinger had a match high five blocks. 

The Crusaders then squared off against the nineteenth ranked Pirates of Park. (Mo.)  Park quickly went up 6-0 on the Crusaders in the opening set but Evangel chipped away and would win the final four points to win the set 26-24. Evangel got up on the Pirates early in the second set 11-2 and finished off the set winning 25-13. 

With Evangel up 24-15 in the third set, Park reeled off nine consecutive points fighting off match point until Evangel ended it with the final two points to seal the win. 

Senior Micah Guiot led the Crusaders with 11 kills and Morgan Kensinger added four blocks.  Morgan Smith had 13 digs and Chloe Hadley added 19 assists.  Junior Bri Justis had a three service aces in the win. 

With the win over a ranked opponent, the Crusaders strike 'gold.' Gold 'N Glaze on Chestnut Expressway donuts provides donuts to Evangel players for every win by the team over a nationally ranked opponent. 

The loss drops Lindenwood-Belleville to 3-13 on the season and Park drops to 11-5. 

The Crusaders are in action again Tuesday when they return home to the Ashcroft Center to face conference foe Missouri Valley.  Game time is set for 7:00pm
