Olathe, Kan. – The ninth ranked Evangel volleyball team improved to 19-0 with two wins on day one of the Rachel Magana Memorial Tournament on the campus of MidAmerica Nazarene on Friday.
Evangel won in straight sets in their first match dispatching William Woods (Kan.) 25-14, 25-19, 25-23.
Senior Haley Watson led the Crusaders with 13 kills and added four blocks. Senior Morgan Smith added 18 digs and two service aces. Senior Maddie Baumann recorded 21 assists and junior Jackie Fugate had four blocks.
In match two, the Crusaders defeated Haskell Indian Nations (Kan.) 25-12, 25-21, 25-13.
Senior Micah Guiot led the Crusaders with nine kills and Jackie Fugate added four blocks. Morgan Smith had 16 digs and Maddie Baumann added 18 assists. Smith and Baumann both added two service aces in the win.
The loss dropped William Woods to 10-7 and Haskell Indian Nation fell to 2-12.
The Crusaders are in action again Saturday when they face Lindenwood-Belleville (Ill.) at 10:00am and #19 Park (Kan.) at 12:30 pm.
